Welcome to the
Ebenezer Baptist Church family!

Ebenezer Baptist is a multigenerational church family that is dedicated to being a people of prayer and to the ministry of the Word of God.

Our mission and vision is to:  “lead ordinary people to become extraordinary followers of Jesus Christ.”

We are kept “on TRACin our mission and vision by the four values of “transformation, reconciliation, authority and community.”

Transformation of our hearts, minds and hands is obeying and glorifying God with all that we have and are.

Reconciliation of man is to win and disciple our neighbor and the peoples of the world in the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Authority, inerrancy, and inspiration of Scripture is our pathway in all matters of life and doctrine.

Community is our commitment to loving relationships with other believers in His body, the Church.

Meet Our Pastor

Pastor Doug Gordon and Trudy Gordon

Pastor Doug began his ministry at EBC in early 2012. Pastor Doug was born in the U.S. but raised in east central B.C. in the Robson Valley.  He has his B.A. in Theology and Missions from Bethany Global University, Bloomington, MN., a B.Sc. in Organizational Administration from University of Northwestern in St. Paul, MN., and is close to completing his M.A. in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Acadia University, Wolfville, N.S. He has been in Pastoral Ministry for almost 17 years and worked for Bethany House Publishers and two Bible Colleges in the U.S. and Canada before pastoral ministry.  His passions are his family, seeing Christ-followers know their identity in Christ and walk in freedom and to see Jesus come to be worshiped as Lord and King by every tribe, tongue and people on the planet. Pastor Doug’s interests are outdoor pursuits, good books and ultralight aviation.

Doug is married to Trudy who is the EBC church office administrator. Trudy was born and raised in central Alberta on a farm and is a Bible college and NAIT graduate. Her career has included dental assistant, homeschool mom, education assistant and now church office administrator. She loves the Lord, her family and is a tremendous support to Pastor Doug in life and in ministry. Pastor Doug and Trudy have two married children and two grandchildren. Trudy’s passions are seeing people walk in wholeness and freedom in Christ and her grandkids and family. Her interests are new recipes and outdoor pursuits while hanging out with Pastor Doug in God’s amazing  creation.

Membership

Active worshippers at EBC are either "adherents" or "members."  An adherent is someone who has made EBC their church home and are part of the church family but have not made the commitment to membership.  Members decide and vote on issues that concern the church such as the yearly budget, the calling of pastors and other issues by Alberta and Canadian law that require membership votes. All members and adherents are highly encouraged to use the spiritual gifts God has given them and serve in and outside the church. Some positions of service in the church (such as children’s ministry) require an RCMP background check and provincial child wellness check. All members and adherents who wish to serve in the church in a formal capacity (i.e. member of a worship team) must agree in writing with the Lifestyle Agreement and by-laws of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Senior positions of leadership within EBC are limited to those who have become church members and have been baptized by immersion in water.

Baptism

Baptism is a command given directly to us by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28: 19-20.  Baptism is a necessary act of obedience as a believer (it is not optional).  While there is controversy in the church of Jesus Christ as to the proper form of baptism (i.e. infant baptism, water poured over the head), as Baptists we believe and hold to baptism by complete immersion in water (baptism literally means "to dip or immerse").

Baptism has spiritual significance as a direct and public identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection (Romans 6:3-5).  It is a public statement that you have died to self and come alive in Christ (Ephesians 2:1-8).

Baptism does not add to or save (make right with God) the one being baptized (Ephesians 2:9-10).  It is an act of obedience to Christ.
